...for Jan '14

I told the kids that we were planning a trip to Brian Head to go tubing. Drew and Garrett got excited and said, "I love tubing!"

Then Lyndy got excited and said, "I love tooting!"

Our friends invited us to their house for a backyard bonfire. When Lyndy saw the sparks of the fire flying up into the sky she said, "Look at those fire bees!"

Lyndy discovered Veggie Tales one Sunday when she wanted to watch TV. That day she fell asleep in the car on the way home from church and as I carried her upstairs to put her in bed, she sleepily said to me, "The tomato's name is Bob," and then went right back to sleep.

Lyndy wakes up every day and takes her pajamas off in her crib. Her room is always freezing in the morning. You could hang meat in there. One morning I said to her, "Please don't take your jammies off when you wake up. It's too cold." She said, "I had to take my jammies off to see if there was a bug in my belly button."

Lyndy was eating something chocolatey at Target and said to me, "I like chocolate. It makes me feel happy!" I swear I've never said that to her before, even though chocolate makes me feel happy too!

Cody does this thing that his dad used to do to him when he was little. He asks one of the boys, "Have you ever seen a turkey peek over a log?" Then when they say no, he grabs a clump of hair on the back of their neck and pulls it up. I know, it's weird. One day Garrett decided to turn the tables on Cody, so he asked him, "Dad, have you ever seen a chicken pee over a log?" Cody was laughing so hard, Garrett could have easily pulled a clump of hair on the back of his neck...if only Cody had some hair to pull:)

...for March '12

My boys don't seem to like their P.E. teacher very much. I thought that would be their favorite class, so I asked Drew why he doesn't like P.E. and he told me, "Because Coach Gravely just watches us get tired." Oh...

...for June '11

Aiden is famous for asking random questions. Tonight he asked me, "What do you think would happen if you put chapstick on a lizard?"

...for April '10

It's starting to get a little hot in our house at night. Aiden came into my room a few nights ago mumbling and running his hands through his sweaty hair. He said, "I'm sweating like a muckdog." I wasn't sure I heard him right. I said, "You're sweating like a muckdog?" He said, "Yeah. What's a muckdog?" I just laughed. Then he said, "My room is so hot, you could bake a pie in my bed." I turned up the air and laughed myself to sleep.

...for December '09

While we were at Grandma's house for Christmas, Garrett was having a twin identity crisis. Every time he would come into a room he would say, "Hi, it's me, Garrett." One day he came into the kitchen and sat down next to Drew. He said to Grandma, "Hi Grandma. It's me, Garrett." Grandma said, "Hi Garrett. Why do you and Drew look alike?" He looked Drew up and down and then looked at himself and said, "Because we have the same shirts."

...for November '09

Garrett was outside riding a razor scooter. After about thirty minutes of nonstop scootering he said to me, "Mommy, my legs hurt." I said, "Are they tired?" He replied, "Yeah, they need a nap."

...for April '09

I did some Spring cleaning in Parks and Aiden's room. It must have looked really good because Aiden said, "Mom, did you used to be a professional maid? Because you really know how to clean." I had to laugh. I told him the only difference between me and a professional maid is that a maid gets paid and I don't.

...for March '09

Drew has been sick this weekend. He's had a really high fever and has felt really crummy. Garrett said to me yesterday, "Mom, I need to be a doctor when I get big." I said, "A doctor is a good thing to be. You can help sick kids." He said, "I need to make Drew feel better." Isn't that sweet? Since he said that, I've been letting him help me take care of Drew. We call him Dr. Garrett. I said today, "Drew has a fever. What should we do Dr. Garrett?" He thought about it for a second."Get some ice!" Maybe he really will be a doctor;)

...for March '09

I was washing Garrett's hands off with a warm washcloth and he told me it was too hot. I told him, "It's not hot. You're a loon." He said, "I'm not a yoon (he still says his L's like Y's), I'm an angel." Cody said, "Who told you that you are an angel?" He said, "Myself."

...for January '09

Garrett told me on the way to church a couple of weeks ago, "Mom, you're my girl."

...also for Jan '09

I was begging for kisses from Drew one day (I'm shameless, I do it all the time) and I was saying, "Give me a kiss." The kiss was granted. "Give me a hug." The hug was given. Then Parks pipes up from the kitchen table, "Give me screaming monkeys!" I didn't even know he was listening to my private conversation with Drew. It was classic Parks. Aiden and I were laughing so hard that I knocked a glass bowl out of the cupboard and it shattered into a million pieces.

I was discussing the concept of a stocking with Garrett.

G: Mom, wook at dose socks (pointing to the stockings hanging on the mantel.)

Me: Those aren't socks, they are stockings.

G: I wanna wear that one.

Me: We don't wear them. Santa fills them with goodies.

G turns to D and says: Santa fills the stockings with footies!

...for November '08

Grandma Noble made the kids helium balloons at her house one day. She tied them to their wrists, and Drew said, "My balloon is following me!" The next day when he woke up and saw his balloon wasn't floating anymore, he said, "My balloon is dead!"

One day when Parks walked into a room full of sweaty boys he said, "It smells like dog kisses in here."

Drew was standing in the kitchen today with his baby and his wooshee looking so cherubic and he says to me with his thumb hanging halfway out of his mouth, "Mommy, do you wuv me?" So of course I scooped him up and kissed the daylights out of him!

Aiden was reading Buzz, Buzz, Busy Bees to the twins and Garrett pointed to a yellow ladybug and said, "A yeyyow yadybug, yay!"

The last time Parks was sick, he said to me, "Mom, I feel like I swallowed a giant frog and it's jumping around inside my tummy."

The Incident at the Springs Preserve

I took my twins to the Springs Preserve one morning a couple of weeks ago. We hadn't even officially been admitted to the park when disaster struck. There is a little box canyon you can walk through on the way in and there is a stream running along the path. The boys loved it, of course, and they threw a few rocks in the water. Then we got to the head of the stream where there is a small waterfall with a pool at the bottom of it. I thought, "Oh great! A photo-op!" I had the boys sit on some rocks at the edge of the pool of water and took some cute photos.

Then I said these brilliant words, "Give each other a hug!" So they did. Can you tell from this next photo what happened immediately after?

If you guessed, "They fell in the pool," you win the prize. Luckily the pool was only as deep as a kids wading pool. I ran over and fished them out. Garrett was completely underwater with Drew on top of him. (I don't know how that happened.) They were both drenched and screaming. Luckily it was early enough in the morning that no one else was around. After I calmed them down I took more pictures for posterity.

Then I peeled each piece of their clothing off one by one and wrung them out. Then we went in the Preserve to spend a couple of hours because I did not drive all that way to be there for five minutes. I'm cruel I guess.

The Twins Learn to Pedal

Garrett (top) and Drew finally learned to pedal a tricycle. We figured out that the Thomas bikes they got for Christmas last year were the problem. Our family went to a BBQ at a friends house and they each got on the little Radio Flyer trike they had and just took off pedaling. When we got home, they got on their Thomas trikes and couldn't make them work. So, the bikes were defective, not the boys. I was starting to worry because Parks started pedaling a bike before he was two years old, and these boys were almost three and weren't even close. Once we figured out the problem, the Thomas trikes went to the D.I. and the boys got brand new Radio Flyer trikes which they absolutely love.

My cousin Collette tagged me and I just now realized it. I have a terrible memory, so this will be tough, but here it goes.

20 years ago...

-I was 11 years old.

-had just started 6th grade at CVT Gilbert Sixth Grade Center in Las Vegas.

-had a really awesome perm.

-wanted a Boom Box for Christmas.

-loved my stirrup pants.

-wanted to be a teacher or an interior designer when I grew up

10 years ago...

-I was a fairly newly wed with no children.

-I was working at Temple View RV.

-I had a puppy named Otis.

-I was trying to get my Bachelor's (which never happened).

-was thinking about starting our family.

-was the Mia Maid advisor in the St. George 8th Ward (Cody's Mom & Dad's Ward)

5 years ago...

-I had two kids; Aiden was 3, and Parks was 1.

-we had just bought a house in Las Vegas (not this one).

-Cody was a brand-new attorney.

3 years ago...

-I was one week away from delivering twins.

-I was completely miserable.

-my life was about to change forever.

-I was about to learn that I am stronger than I thought I was (in more ways than one).

1 year ago...

-I was a kindergarten volunteer (for Parks's class)

-Aiden was preparing to be baptized.

-we were planning a trip to Disneyland (which never happened because of the California wildfires)

-I was finally feeling like I could handle four kids (the twins were almost two).

-I was dealing with turning 30.

-I was stressing about my church calling.

This year I...

-turned 31.

-became a digi-scrapper and a blogger.

-became at peace with the fact that I cannot keep my house clean (or maybe I just gave up).

-lost five pounds.

-gained five pounds.

-went to visit my sister in Houston and took all of my children (without Cody).

Yesterday I...

-took the twins to Petsmart to buy crickets for the lizard.

-took a day off from making dinner.

-organized my computer files.

-had a movie night with my kids.

Today I...

-will finish the twins birthday present. (I'm remaking a toy hutch my Grandpa made for me when I was a little girl into a play kitchen for the twins.)

-will make homemade instruments for my nursery kids (my new calling is Nursery Chorister, way fun)

-do some laundry.

-call my sister in Houston (Hurricane Ike).

-try to keep my sanity for one more day.

Tomorrow I...

-will go to church with my family.

-will eat our traditional Sunday meal of spaghetti.

The Primary Talent Show

Here are the videos Cody took at our Primary Talent Show. This first one is Aiden showing off his Speed Stacking skills. (You will see from these clips why I am usually the designated camera girl).

I already have video of the twins doing this song, but I wanted to include this in my post. This is the nursery class performing "Do As I'm Doing" at the Primary Talent Show. My first official duty as Nursery Chorister was to lead them.

This is video of Parks at the Primary Talent Show doing his demonstration on how to make brownies. The audience was laughing because when Parks started stirring the brownies, he sloshed a bunch of it all over his hand. When I took the bowl to help him stir it, he started licking all the brownie goo off his hand. It was pretty cute.

Memory Lane

I had to put this scrapbook page up because I love these pictures of Parks. They were taken on September 12, 2007. Aiden and Parks participated in our Primary Talent Show this weekend, and Parks's talent was a cooking demonstration. He showed everybody how to make brownies. He did a great job, and the audience thought it was funny when he started licking his fingers. I have it on video, so I will have to post it soon.
