Parks is coming to the end of his wonderful year of Kindergarten. He has the world's best teacher, Mrs. Moore. On Friday, June 27th, 2008 his class had their Kindergarten Celebration. It was kind of like a graduation. They sang some really cute songs and received a certificate. I can't believe Parks will soon be a first grader! Time goes by too fast.

Kindergarten Celebration
Houston Trip
On June 11, 2008 the boys and I flew to Houston to visit my sister Hillary and her family. The boys were so excited to fly on an airplane. Parks would wake up everyday and announce how many days we had left until our trip. They all loved the plane and had a great time visiting their cousins. While we were there we went swimming, visited the NASA Space Center, went to the Kemah Boardwalk, saw the Kung Fu Panda movie (two thumbs up), and caught some frogs --sadly, my boys had never done that before :(. Here are some pictures of the day we went to the NASA Space Center.

Houston, we have a problem! The twins are at the controls!
Dare Devil Island
At the NASA Space Center, there was an exhibit called Dare Devil Island where the kids were able to do some challenging things. Aiden, Parks, and McKayl tried something where they put a harness on and attached it to a cable line and walked across tight ropes and climbed across nets that were really high in the air. There was also a bungee tower where the kids got to climb up into a giant tower on stretchy bungee nets that looked like spider webs. McKayl was the only one who was patient enough to wait in line for the bungee jump. They strapped her into a harness that was attached to two bungee cords over a trampoline and then pulled the bungees taut so she could bounce really high.

Kemah Boardwalk
After we went to the Space Center, we went to a little touristy place by the ocean called Kemah. We fed the kids ice cream for dinner and then they had fun playing in the fountain. They were sopping wet, and then it started raining buckets on us, so by the time we got to the plyg-wagon (that's what we called the 10-passenger van Grandpa rented), everyone was wet. It was a soggy ride home, but we had a great time.
Emma and McKayl's Baptism Day
Emma and McKayl were baptized on Saturday June 14th, 2008. These are pictures of the cousins before we left for the baptism. The girls looked so pretty in the white dresses their mom made for them.
The cousins: Aiden is in the back, L to R are Libby, McKayl, Emma, Parks, Drew, and Garrett with Sawyer in front of Libby.
The Rodet family reunion. We haven't all been together for a long time! Back row L to R: Cortney holding Drew, Jaclyn, Dad, Mom, Zach, Maddi, Brittney holding Garrett. Next row: Parks, Aiden, Emma, McKayl, Hillary holding Sawyer. Libby is in front.
I Love to See the Temple
For Family Home Evening one night, we talked about preparing to go to the temple. For our activity we made temples out of sugar cubes. Aiden and Parks had fun building their creations. I am so thankful for Family Home Evening. It is sometimes challenging to teach a lesson to four wiggly boys, but the blessings it brings to our family is worth all the effort (and sometimes discouragement) that it takes.

Pinewood Derby Champ!
Aiden participated in his very first Pinewood Derby last Thursday. He was so excited about it. It took him and Cody a few weeks to get his car ready. When the big night came, there were 18 other cars in the race and it didn't start off very promising. On the first few tries, Aiden's car didn't even make it to the finish line. I remember thinking to myself, "Well, he's not going to win, but I hope he has fun anyway." Then I found out that since I am the Counselor over Scouts, I was in charge of coming up with 19 original award certificates for each participant (yikes!), so I spent most of the night at the judges table. When the races were over, to my utter amazement, Aiden had won! I couldn't believe it! There were 18 other cars entered in the derby, and Aiden's was the fastest. It had come down to Aiden and Dylan Warr. They had to race each other 4 or 5 times to determine which was really the winner, and in the end, it was Aiden. The look on his face was priceless. You can see how happy he is in these pictures I took of him after the big race.
