Summer 2014

*This is an old post that I am just now putting up because of computer issues. It should have been posted in August :)

Summer is almost over! The kids go back to school in a week. Here is what we did this summer:

We got a puppy! His name is Jake. He is a Brittany. Cody drove to Price on Father's Day to get him.

The cousins came to visit!

McKayl, Aiden and Emma headed up to Logan for EFY

The rest of us went up and stayed in a cabin in Smithfield Canyon. We went to the Pioneer Heritage Center.

Lyndy loved the baby cows.

The kids learned how to milk a cow.

Train ride

Pony ride.

The boys split a log.

We saw a mountain man...

and played pioneer games.

Log cabin cutie.

We learned how to pan for gold...

and saw the beautiful Logan Temple.

It's really tall!

We went hiking by a river.

The boys with their flippers. Grandpa Smith would be so proud.

We got to hang out with Aunt Maddi. Everyone loves Aunt Maddi.

The kids at the cabin.

Then the long-awaited 500 miles in 5 days bike ride from Salt Lake City to Las Vegas finally arrived. Cody was a team leader, Aiden was a rider on his team, and I drove SAG. The other kids got to hang out at Grandma's while we were gone.

Jayden Thiriot, Justin Matthews, and Aiden ready to go on the first morning.

This was Cody's second 500 mile ride. He was a team leader in 2011 also.

Some people like to shave their legs but not their faces when they ride a bike. Weird.

Aiden and Justin on Utah Hill.

Aiden had a cold the whole bike ride. He was a trooper, but he wasn't very happy. This was the first time I saw him smile. He was helping his friend Justin up the hill and forgot about himself for a while. Funny how that works.

They made it to the top!

Group hug!

Cody's team with the best SAG drivers EVER! Brother and Sister Proksch

I was so proud of Aiden! What a HUGE accomplishment!

Before we knew it, it was the 4th of July.

Easter

We had a fun Easter this year. We had our annual Smith family Easter picnic at Cox Park. Lyndy knew just what to do when it was time for the egg hunt.

Garrett

Our friends the Thiriots were at the park too. It was fun to see them. Brooke joined in on the hunt with Lyndy.

Drew

Let's find more eggs!

Easter loot!

We also had our annual Noble family egg hunt at Grandma Noble's house.

Don't pay attention to the photo bomber in the background. Way to ruin a really cute picture Aiden!

Isn't she precious?

Spring Break 2014

The kids had Spring Break in April, the week before Easter. We kicked it off with a trip to the Clark County Fair. Yee Haw! Lyndy was soooo excited to go see the baby animals. I made the mistake of telling her in the morning and we didn't leave until the afternoon. She kept saying, "I can't wait. I'm so excited to see the baby animals!"

The first thing she did was ride a pony. She is fearless, so she got right on and had a great ride.

Her pony's name was silver.

Lyndy saw piglets, bunnies, baby chicks, and the cutest baby goats that were only 3 days old. So cute! She is still talking about how fun it was!

We didn't forget to take Flat Stanley with us. Our cousin Sawyer sent him to us from Houston and he had a great time at the fair.

Lyndy loves Merry-go-rounds!

We spent one of our Spring Break days swimming in the Virgin River.

Flat Stanley loved it.

So did Lyndy.

We also went roller skating, had playdates with friends, and Aiden had a pool party with his friends at Justin Matthews house. It was a welcome break from school and we enjoyed spending some time together.

Drew and Garrett's First Blue and Gold Banquet

Our ward had it's Blue and Gold Banquet on March 1st and as usual, they had the boys make cakes with their Dads to serve for dessert. Drew made an adorable robot cake with really easy and yummy marshmallow fondant.

Garrett made an awesome monster cake with cake pop eyeballs. He squirted the frosting out of a ziploc bag with a little hole in the corner so it looked like it had fur. They did an amazing job!
